PzKpf VI Panzerbefehlskämpfer III In Service:1942 A few Thor Panzerkämpfer were converted to command walkers and fitted with additional radio equipment. They mounted a pair of 3.2cm KpfK (Kämpfer Kanone) 90 cannons for defense, in addition to the hull's machinegun. Because of the better maintenance, the Panzerbefehlskämpfer III was rarely troubled by random shutdowns of the Walker movement system. Modeling Notes: The Command variant is built from the basic model: add two 3.2cm guns from the Axis Weapon pack (DP9-635) and discard the arms.
PzKpf VI Flak-Kämpfer III “Flak-Donner“ In Service:1943 A small number of Thor walkers, less than three dozen, were modified for anti-aircraft duties and armed with a battery of four 20mm Flak 38 guns mounted on either sides of the hull. Somehow the name Flak-Donner was more liked by its crew and the nickname replaced the official designation in common usage. Modeling Notes: Build a basic Donner chassis without the arms, and add the twin anti-aircraft guns from the Anti-Aircraft Guns Pack (DP9-624).
PzKpf IX “Jäger“ In Service:1943 In 1943 a small number of PzKpf VI F were modified to the so called Panzerkämpfer IX “Jäger” prototype. The 3.2cm cannon was replaced with a 1.8cm cannon and a single Kpf Panzerfaust was used. The frontal and rear armour was improved by a complicated multilayer spaced armour array. The engine was also improved and more stable. All in all a superior combat walker was developed and a small number reached the front to serve with elite walker units. Eventually however the Prototype was discarded because of the complex production and additional costs. Modeling Notes: Build a basic Donner chassis with arms, add one Panzerfaust, one 1.8cm cannon and a pack of grenades.
