Grand Army of the Republic

501st Legion

"Those aren't just stormtroopers. They're from the Five-Oh-First Legion. Darth Vader's personal legion."
―Everi Chalis
The 501st Legion, also referred to as the 501st for short, the 501st Battalion, the 501st clone battalion, and later known as "Vader's Fist," was an elite stormtrooper legion under the command of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader during the Imperial Era. The legion predated the Galactic Empire, its origins dating back to the era of the Clone Wars when the 501st was an elite military division of clone troopers in the Grand Army of the Republic.

Under the leadership of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, and Clone Commander CT-7567 "Rex," the 501st fought against the Separatist Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Throughout the conflict, the soldiers of the 501st were known for their courage, unconventional tactics, and loyalty to the Galactic Republic.

Five Phase I trooper right out of the Clone Wars box. Unfortunately the miniatures are NOT as good as the B1 droids, softer plastic, less details, grotesquely oversized weapons, bulky heads, feet and hands and horrible very hard to remove mold lines. A real shame and missed opportunity IMO. They look good anyway.

Comparison pics:

Jordans Obi, FFG Phase I and Mels Obi. Jordans mini work together with FFG, Mels not.

AT-RT Walker

While clone troopers were best deployed in large numbers, articulated battlefield armor such as this Republic scout walker transformed a single clone trooper into a formidable anti-infantry unit. Designed primarily as a reconnaissance vehicle, this two-legged open-cockpit walker is nonetheless swift and heavily armed, letting a clone trooper cut through battle droids easily. It was employed in such campaigns as the Battle of Kashyyyk. It was the precursor to the All Terrain Scout Transport seen during the Galactic Civil War.

FFG already announced their model, but I wanted mine now. Since I had a couple of walkers from the Legion core box and I do not like them for Rebels the choice was simple, get a Clone Rider from Shapeways and all is fine. I went for one of the great Mel designs, but as always the Shapeways printing material was not as good as any mini from FFG. Otherwise it fitted perfectly, only the brittle blaster broke off during painting, I replaced it with a FFG arm.

Biker Advanced Recon Commando (BARC) speeder

The Biker Advanced Recon Commando (BARC) speeder was a speeder bike manufactured by Aratech Repulsor Company. It was designed for use by the Galactic Republic's Grand Army during the Clone Wars. The speeder gave the ordinary clone trooper fighting on foot increased speed, mobility and firepower. Used primarily as a scouting and escort vehicle, it was readily adaptable for various environments and missions.

Anakin Skywalker

"You are the Chosen One. You have brought balance to this world. Stay on this path and you will do it again… for the galaxy. But beware… your heart…"
The Father's last words, to Anakin Skywalker

Anakin Skywalker was a human male Jedi Knight of the Galactic Republic and the Chosen One of the Force. During the Clone Wars, his accomplishments as a Jedi General earned him the Hero With No Fear moniker. After turning to the dark side of the Force, he became known as Darth Vader, a Dark Lord of the Sith and Sith apprentice to Galactic Emperor Darth Sidious. As a Sith Lord, Vader turned against his former comrades and hunted the surviving Jedi into near extinction. He became an enforcer of the Galactic Empire, who worked to crush the Alliance to Restore the Republic for opposing his Sith Master's will. Yet despite his actions as Darth Vader, a glimmer of the light side of the Force remained within the former Anakin Skywalker.
The Anakin mini is a print from Dark Fire Designs - very nice mini that fits perfectly to the Legion Rex and the Imperial Assault Ashoka!

Obi Wan

"You've been a good apprentice, Obi-Wan, and you're a much wiser man than I am. I foresee you will become a great Jedi Knight."
―Qui-Gon Jinn
Obi-Wan Kenobi was a legendary human male Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Republic Era. During the Imperial Era, he adopted the alias Ben Kenobi in order to hide from the regime that drove the Jedi to near extinction. A noble man known for his skills with the Force, Kenobi trained Anakin Skywalker, served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, and became a mentor to Luke Skywalker prior to his death in 0 BBY.

Another, maybe even better Obi Wan is from Skullforge Studios! Dynamic pose, flowing robe, crisp Clone armour, I like the sculpt. Shapeways model in Smoothest Fine Detail, still some rough spots though...

Clone Captain Rex

Clone Captain Rex viewed military service as an honor, and his loyalty to the Republic and his Jedi Generals was absolute. Rex honed the use of twin blaster pistols into an art form, leading his fellow clones to victory on countless battlefields across the galaxy.
I really like the Rex expansion, 3 head options and his typical 2 blaster pistol pose. As with CF-99 I could not resist and created a Zombicide Invader card for him.

Commander Wolffe

"The Separatists have no regard for innocent life. They don't care who walks away from war and who doesn't. That's why we move on them now, Commander……and Wolfpack leads the hunt."
Wolffe, formerly designated CC-3636, was a veteran Clone Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic who served with Jedi General Plo Koon during the Clone Wars. The leader of the 104th Battalion's famed Wolfpack squad, Commander Wolffe proved to be tireless in his efforts against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, displaying an affinity for strategy. On his first mission with Koon, Wolffe served on board the Jedi Master's flagship, the Triumphant, when Koon led a task force to eliminate the Separatist warship Malevolence. While confronting the Malevolence in the Abregado system, all the troopers from the Wolfpack who were on board the ship were eliminated, save for Koon, Wolffe, and troopers Sinker and Boost. The four were rescued by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and Wolffe had his unit adopt new clone trooper armor in honor of his fallen comrades. Refusing to let the loss of the Wolfpack deter him from his service, he inspired loyalty amongst his men.

Another very good Dark Fire sculpt.
The mini works very well with FFGs Rex.

212th Attack Battalion Clone Paratroopers

Clone paratroopers were specialized clone troopers trained for airborne operations in the Grand Army of the Republic. In the waning days of the Clone Wars, the paratroopers of the 212th Attack Battalion served as front line assault units in the Battle of Utapau. Following a failed attempt to execute Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as a result of Order 66, Clone Commander CC-2224 "Cody" ordered a group of paratroopers to search for the missing body of their former general. The troopers failed as Kenobi survived and escaped from the planet.

CC-2224, nicknamed "Cody," was a clone trooper officer who served as the Clone Marshal Commander of the renowned 7th Sky Corps and personally led the sub-unit 212th Attack Battalion during the Clone Wars. A natural and practical leader, Commander Cody was the second-in-command of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, to whom he was particularly loyal. A capable strategist and an exceptional soldier on the battlefield, his qualities earned him the respect of both his Jedi officer and his fellow clone troopers.
The Cody mini is a print from Dark Fire Designs - stunning mini that fits perfectly to the Legion minis.

The Phase 2 specialists!

A very simple conversion, I used the body with the fitting right shoulder pad of the FFG Phase I Clone Troopers Upgrade Expansion and a Skull Forge Evictor head - done!

Two more Phase II Clones without any modification. The Phase II hard plastic minis are really good, I am very happy, great quality.

Clone Force 99 - The bad batch

"The defective clones with... desirable mutations." ― Commander Cody, on Clone Force 99

And a group shot with CF-99 and his friend and Jedi Leader Ashoka Tano. Ashoka is from Imperial Assault. The mini is slightly smaller in scale but fits IMO OK, since she is supposed to be a bit shorter than the clones.

Clone Force 99, informally known as the Bad Batch, was a clone commando squad led by Captain Rex during the Clone Wars. The squad was formed from four Clone Troopers who were born with "desirable" genetic mutations that set them apart physically and mentally from their standard counterparts. These mutations were enhanced to make them into superior soldiers on the battlefield.

The commando unit was named after 99, a malformed maintenance clone in honor for his bravery and sacrifice in the defense of Kamino from a Separatist invasion.
The motley crew that makes up Clone Force 99 boasts an astounding 100 percent success rate and skills unseen in any other clone troopers. Adept at working together, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair use their unique talents and specialized physiology to execute extraordinary solutions on the battlefield. And after rescuing the clone trooper Echo from Separatist captivity, they welcome the cybernetic soldier into their fold.

I liked CF 99 immediately, so I had to get the excellent after market minis. I even created some Zombicide Invader cards (they are in 150 dpi, so just save and print them if you like) to use them against some aliens from a Confederacy research station... Use the starting eqipment from the Zombicide - Dark Side box!

Echo, as a genetic clone of Jango Fett, was a human male with black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. Although all normal clones of Jango Fett were physically identical to the bounty hunter, Echo was slightly skinnier than his fellow Squad teammates, but still stood at the same 1.83 meters in height. Following his Separatist capture, Echo's skin became pale during his time in stasis and his body was outfitted with numerous cybernetic implants — including a socket-arm in place of his right hand—but he became weak and emaciated. He had also lost his hair.

Omega and Cid

Omega was an unmodified, yet enhanced human female clone created from the genetic template of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett who lived in the years following the Clone Wars. Originally created as a pure genetic replication of Fett, she was a medical assistant to Nala Se and spent her days working in Tipoca City on the clone homeworld of Kamino. When the war ended, she took an interest in Clone Force 99, who had returned from a battle on Kaller. Later, when Wilhuff Tarkin arrived on Kamino to assess the clone troopers, she joined Clone Force 99 and escaped Kamino.
Cid was a Trandoshan female residing on Ord Mantell, where she ran a cantina called Cid's Parlor. Before Order 66, she served as an informant for the Jedi, and it was in that capacity that the ARC trooper Echo learned her name and where to find her. After Clone Force 99 defected from the Galactic Empire, they visited Cid to learn the identity of Fennec Shand, a bounty hunter who had accosted them on Pantora and attempted to kidnap the child clone Omega. In order to pay for the information, Cid had the Bad Batch rescue Muchi, a young rancor stolen by Zygerrian slavers. After the successful job, Cid paid Hunter thirty percent of the profits and revealed that Shand was an up-and-coming bounty hunter, whom Cid's sources in the Bounty Hunters' Guild stated had been hired for the job on a direct commission.

Zombicide Invasion Cards

I liked CF 99 immediately, so I had to get the excellent after market minis. I even created some Zombicide Invader cards (they are in 150 dpi, so just save and print them if you like) to use them against some aliens from a Confederacy research station... Use the starting eqipment from the Zombicide - Dark Side box!

A Republic sergeant with shaggy hair and a distinct tattoo that makes half his face resemble a skull, Hunter is the leader of Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch. Compared to the other members of the elite group of clone soldiers, Hunter's appearance is quite close to the other clone troopers.

But as part of a team that is the result of genetic experimentation, Hunter's combat prowess and heightened senses make him more effective on the battlefield than most.

The boisterous bruiser of Clone Force 99, a group of elite Republic soldiers known as the Bad Batch, Wrecker has the brute strength that makes him capable of lifting a clone gunship without any help.

Wrecker’s muscle and size are matched only by his temper, which can boil over easily, and an equally pronounced sense of humor even in the most dire circumstances.

He may not look like a typical clone, but Tech is a valuable soldier in the Republic army.

The result of genetic manipulation like the rest of his special unit, Clone Force 99 (or the Bad Batch), Tech's aptitude for science and technology are unmatched by man or machine.

When you have to hit a precise target from 10 klicks, Crosshair's your man.

Cold, quick, and calculating, Crosshair is the kind of no-nonsense warrior who detests working with "regs," or normal clones, and isn't afraid to mouth off about it.

A member of the special unit Clone Force 99, also called the Bad Batch, Crosshair is gifted with a sniper blaster.

Proto Stormtrooper

During the Bad Batch (S01E14) the old Ralph McQuarrie Stormtrooper concept design was canonised, I really loved that respectful reference to the old master! As soon as I saw these designs as 3d prints, I just had to get them...

Skullforge designs at its best, clean simple and true to the screen.

Clone Commando

The Bad Batch (S01E14) reintroduces also the fan-favorite Clone Commandos.

Clone commandos (CC), also known as Republic commandos while serving under the Galactic Republic, were elite clone troopers that served in the Grand Army of the Republic's Special Operations Brigade during the Clone Wars. A result of the Kaminoans' genetic experimentation with the Jango Fett template, they were special forces soldiers noted for their training and elite status in the clone army.

"I am not a natural Force wielder like the Jedi or Sith. I use dark magick to achieve power."
―Mother Talzin

The Nightsisters, also known as the Witches of Dathomir, were a clan and order of magick-wielding females who lived on Dathomir, a planet bathed in dark energies. These Dark side users were able to perform their arcane magicks by tapping into the magical ichor that flowed from the depths of their planet.
According to a commonly told story, the first Nightsisters were trained in the ways of the Force by Allya, a female Jedi whom the Jedi Council had sent into exile on the mysterious planet of Dathomir. However, the Jedi Council had no records of an exile named Allya, and the Nightsisters themselves had other, contradicting tales about their origins.
Since their power was at its most potent on their home planet, the Nightsisters rarely ventured off-world during the height of the Galactic Republic. However, this changed when a sister named Talzin became the clan's Mother. During this time, Talzin worked alongside the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, who ultimately betrayed Talzin and took her son Maul from her. At the time of the Clone Wars, Talzin began to sell her sisters' services as mercenaries to the galaxy's wealthy citizens.
At some point in the years leading up to the Clone Wars, the clan was forced to give up the young Asajj Ventress to the Siniteen criminal Hal'Sted as insurance for protection.

Mother Talzin

"Sidious is deceiving you—as he once deceived me."
"Then you know to betray the Dark Lord is folly."
"No, Count—to betray one's self is the ultimate defeat."
―Mother Talzin and Count Dooku

Talzin was a Dathomirian female who lived during the final decades of the Galactic Republic's reign and became a formidable figure of power during the Clone Wars. On her homeworld of Dathomir, Talzin lived as a shaman and Clan Mother of the Nightsisters—a coven of Force-sensitive witches who used magicks to manipulate the wilderness around them and rule their male counterparts, the Nightbrothers. Talzin's expertise in magicks was significant enough to attract the attention of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, who came to Dathomir ostensibly to trade dark side Force teachings with Talzin and take her as his own Sith apprentice. Instead, the Sith Lord abducted Talzin's son Maul and took him as an apprentice in her place. Years later, he was presumed dead at the Battle of Naboo after sustaining mortal injuries, but his strength in the dark side allowed him to remain just barely alive. Although Talzin was aware of Maul's incredible survival, she was unable to rescue him and thus remained on Dathomir to plot her revenge against Sidious and his Sith, with her ultimate goal being galactic domination.”

Confederacy of Independent Systems

"It is an honour to stand before you, for you represent the freedom and the future of our galaxy. The once-great Republic and Jedi Order have become victims of their own ambitions, and the Supreme Chancellor is no more than a pawn of corporate monopolies. As a people you called out for change, you called out for leadership, and I humbly answered that call. Together we challenged the system. We asked for equality. And how were we met? With war! The Jedi secret army of clones was revealed, and their treachery was far greater than we could have imagined! Countless living beings—these clones the Jedi created—have been sent to their deaths, while we sacrifice mainly droids. Our soldiers of flesh and blood are willing participants! They are your fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, who fight not because they were grown and designed to do so, but because they know in their hearts that they are fighting for a just and noble cause!"
―Head of State Dooku addresses a gala of Separatist dignitaries

Count Dooku

"The best of all would be the strongest student, yes? Wisest? Most learned in the ways of the Force? Best of all, Dooku would be! Our greatest student! Our greatest failure."

“Count Dooku was a Force-sensitive Human male Jedi Master who fell to the dark side of the Force and became a Dark Lord of the Sith, known as Darth Tyranus. Born into a noble family on the planet Serenno, he was the heir to vast wealth and the noble title of Count. Dooku was taken by the Jedi Order as a child and apprenticed to Thame Cerulian. As a Jedi Knight, he took Qui-Gon Jinn as his first Padawan, and later trained Komari Vosa. Dooku was a respected instructor in the Jedi Temple and one of the most renowned swordsmen in the galaxy, surpassed only by Grandmaster Yoda and equal to Master Mace Windu.
Dooku spent nearly seventy years as a Jedi, but a disastrous battle on Galidraan shook his faith in the Order and the Galactic Republic. He fell under the influence of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of Naboo, and left the Jedi Order. After learning that Palpatine was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Dooku turned to the dark side and became a Dark Lord of the Sith himself, replacing Darth Maul as Sidious's second apprentice. His new master bestowed upon him the Sith title of Darth Tyranus.
Reclaiming his birthright as Count of Serenno and his vast fortune, Dooku conspired with Sidious to force the galaxy into a war that would bring the Sith to power. He forged ties between corporations and planets discontented with the Republic, and became the leader of the Separatist movement that coalesced into the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Thousands of star systems flocked to Dooku's banner and seceded from the Galactic Republic.
As the political leader of the Confederacy, Dooku led the organization against the Republic in a conflict that would become known as the Clone Wars. He recruited and trained four of his greatest warriors to lead the Separatist Droid Army: Durge, the brutish Gen'Dai bounty hunter; Asajj Ventress, Dooku's protégé and Dark Jedi apprentice; General Sev'rance Tann, Chiss commander and Dark Acolyte; and General Grievous, the infamous Jedi-slaying Kaleesh-cyborg and droid leader.
The war culminated in a great battle over the Republic capital of Coruscant. In a duel aboard the Separatist flagship Invisible Hand, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker defeated Dooku. Skywalker then executed the dismembered and helpless Dooku at the instigation of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Tyranus's own Sith Master.” from SW Wikia

A nice miniature, true to the Legion style of bigger than realistic feet, hands and head. The mini is even bigger than the B2 droids, but according to this should be OK, since the good Count (Christopher Lee) was 1,93m.

General Griveous

"I'm no errand boy. And I'm not in this war for Dooku's politics. I am the leader of the most powerful droid army the galaxy has ever seen!" ― General Grievous, to Obi-Wan Kenobi
Grievous was a Kaleesh male warlord who served as a commanding officer in the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the last years of the Galactic Republic.

Although he was known by his rank as a general, Grievous was the Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Army that engaged the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the pan-galactic conflict of the Clone Wars. Noted for his ruthlessness and extensive cybernetic enhancements, Grievous inspired fear as he traveled across the galaxy, invading entire worlds and engaging the Jedi Knights of the Republic.” from SW Wikia

9 B1 Droids right out of the core box. IMO absolutely the best Legion minis so far, incredible good casting, great hard plastic and huge conversion potential! In addition using Contrast paints they paint themselves more or less by themselves!

"With these new battle droids we built for you, you'll have the finest army in the galaxy."
―Foreman Wat Tambor, to Count Dooku

“B2 super battle droids, also known as super battle droids or super droids, were an advanced battle droid used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Super battle droids were much stronger than their predecessors, and like the updated B1s used by the Confederacy, they did not require a command system to operate, which gave the droids limited independence. Another improvement was their thick armor casing, which contained their fragile sensors. However, B2s were designed with simple processors, limiting their ability to formulate strategies. As a result, they relied on organic commanders or tactical droids in order to effectively operate. The B2 was much stronger than the B1s, with enough strength to lift a clone trooper off the ground as seen at the Battle of Teth. Despite this a variant for close range combat, the B2 grapple droid, was created. The B2-HA super battle droid was a variant of the B2 equipped with a cannon arm that could fire homing rockets. This variant could be seen commanding small units, as could be seen on Rodia. Two other variants were designed with flight capabilities. These were the B2-RP, and its upgraded variant the super battle droid rocket trooper. Another variant was the B2-ACM Trooper. They were deployed when the firepower of a standard B2 wasn't enough.” from SW Wikia

Incredible good minis again, very true to Episode 2 and 3. Again super crisp plastic and an absolute joy to build and paint. Since I always liked the retro art-deco look of the B2 I painted not only one but two squads of these beauties!

“Droidekas, also known as destroyer droids, or as rollies in clone trooper slang, were a type of droid used by the Trade Federation during the Invasion of Naboo and, later, by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Manufactured by the Colicoids on Colla IV, droidekas were dangerous and deadly, designed to exterminate their adversaries with extreme prejudice. They could transform their shape by curling into a ball and moving up to 75 kilometers per hour across a surface, or stand on three legs and utilize a shield generator while firing at a target.” from SW Wikia

Droidekas right out of the core box. As good as the B1s!!!
