“As vast and dark as a sunless void, the Blackstone Fortress is a creation far beyond the ken of any race in the galaxy. In this age of darkness, in a galaxy riven with strife and horror, the desperate and intrepid alike search this Fortress for long-lost technologies that may be used to turn the tide of war.”
Finally Warhammer Quest come to 40K. I played the original WHQ a lot, and always looked for a 40K equivalent. So you can imagine that I was very curious a also a bit exited about the game.
I have not played yet, but started painting some minis...
Pious and UR together with some stand in minis, ready to play!
An after market terrain piece, 3D print with as many print line as it gets, but somehow it fits the Blackstone look. I just primed it black and gave it some drybrushes.
Amallyn Shadowguide, the Eldar Ranger! Since I got a big Ulthwe army I changed the craftworld colours. Many dislike the sculpt, I really really like her. The only downer is the size, absolute scale creep as you can see below!!!
Pious Vorne, the pyromaniac zealot.
Freya and Frygga, the Demiurg Twins. (I REALLY disliked the 2 R&R Halflings and immediately sold them, but since I liked their game mechanics I ordered 2 Hasslefree SF Dwarfs).
Dahyak Grekh, the Kroot tracker. Again a big mini, but not as big compared to other Kroot as Amallyn Shadowguide. See him below together with a old conversion and a hound.
UR-025, the man of steel from an ancient forgotten time.
UR-025 with some Mechanicus.
Obsidius Mallex, the boss enemy.
Obsidius Mallex with Chaos Marine bodyguards. I painted them again in the colours of the Sons of Horus. In addition I swapped the backpacks for Mk II packs and added a Mk II helmet to tone them a bit down, I just do not like horns and too many pointed trophy racks...
And somehow they have grown on the Blackstone Fortress...
Traitor Guard - Traitor guardsmen is a term given to the vast majority of disloyal mortals who have left the Imperial Guard in order to fight for Chaos. They are not a single coherent force, but rather a faction of the infinite collection of warbands and hosts under the leadership of Chaos Champions and part of the The Lost and the Damned. In order to fulfil their own agendas, Champions of Chaos draw lesser Chaos followers to them to form their own personal armies, which can vary tremendously in size and strength. The Traitor Guard are among the better armed and minded troops that Chaos Champions and/or Arch-Heretics have at their disposal. Like other Imperial military deserters who have turned from their Emperor and fled from Imperial justice. Occasionally entire companies, or even regiments of the Imperial Guard turn to Chaos, and take with them their vehicles and armoury. These traitors, unlike other mutants and other vile Beastmen, have not completely lost their military skills or sanity, forming a reasonably reliable core force amongst the slavering hordes of the Lost and Damned armies. Often these mortal guardsmen will fight alongside mutants or Daemons of the warp by summoning them by way of blasphemous rituals. Their allies are complemented further with monstrosities of all kinds, such as Chaos Spawns, hordes of mutants and Beastmen, and packs of Chaos Hounds. When Guardsmen betray their Emperor it is not just themselves who leave to fight for Chaos but their vehicles and equipment as well. Rough Riders, as well as Imperial Guard vehicles such as Leman Russ Battle Tanks, Hellhounds, Basilisks and Sentinels are known to be in the service of Traitor Guard armies too. Traitor units are also known to use Chimeras and Space Marine Rhinos for transportation.
Ur-Ghuls - Ur-Ghuls are a Xenos species that are native to the labyrinth ziggurats of the Dark Eldar city of Shaa-dom. Their nature means that they are one of the many atavistic beings that can be recruited by an Archon for his court. These creatures are noted for being the most hideous of all the creatures that a Dark Eldar Archon can summon. Being sightless, yet quite agile, their tracking abilities are quite renowned and once a prey has been caught by the beast's quivering scent-pits, it is known that nothing is able to escape these whip-thin horrors.
Spindle Drones - A Spindle Drone is a robotic war machine that defends Blackstone Fortresses from intruders. Imperial sources describe then as follows: "Spindle Drones are an example of the dark phenomenon of Silica Animus, colloquially known as “abominable intelligence” – as much as any xenos can be called an “intelligence”. Despite frequent encouragement, these vile xenos do not recognise the Imperium of Man as the rightful inheritors of the Blackstone Fortress and have responded poorly to our merciful attempts to deconstruct them en-masse in order to aid these reclamation efforts. As such, they have been declared PURGATUS MAXIMUS, and must be exterminated utterly."
My first Negavolt Cultist, I converted him slightly, since I did no like the heads cables pointing forward so much. IMO it takes a lot of the forward motion from the mini.
Negavolt Cultists are Heretek Cults that are often found on worlds controlled by the Adeptus Mechanicus. They fuse themselves with corrupt machinery that channels their own pain and hatred into arcs of Warp-infused energy that leaps from their electro goads. Negavolt Cultists also express their heretical devotion by despoiling machinery and corrupting the function of sacred technologies through daemonic invocations and abstruse rituals.
